Mecano is the most important group in the history of Spanish music. They sold over ten million records and won the hearts and voices of three generations. Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar is their musical.

The cast is made up of 40 artists: 13 who sing live on stage and play the characters in the story, 20 dancers and 7 musicians who perform the songs from the musical live.

SYNOPSIS
Mario and Colate are two friends who live in a village in the early 80s. The two of them share the same dream: to travel to Madrid and form a group.

Their arrival in Madrid, a city in a state of cultural and social flux, brings them various problems: they can’t find work, they have no money, no record company is interested in signing them… but gradually they manage to make a go of it.

They find work in a bar called “33” and meet a pair of friendly musicians: Guillermo and Panchi. They hook up and form the group “Rulé”, winning a major competition that enables them to record their first single.

Mario finds love and Colate gets embroiled in the dark world of drugs.

The 1980s provides the setting in which our heroes live, suffer, love, are happy, downtrodden… and eventually become the biggest group in Spain.

HNMPL takes us on a journey through the 1980s, music, love, friendship… a journey through life.
