To commemorate the centenary of the birth of its founder, the Errecart Institute is presenting a musical piece entitled ‘Ze bolada!’, directed by Pier-Paul Berzaitz and performed by professional Basque artists, with all the characteristics of a cultural fresco.
The production is a poetic manifesto about the life of Jean Errecart (1909-1971) and his work as a responsible professional (founder of the Cooperativa Lur Berri, Crédit Agricole, the Sokorri Clinic and the Errecart Teaching Institute) and as an elected politician (mayor, councillor, member of parliament and senator), making reference to the events that shaped his time. In some ways, it is a journey to his time.
The show, which includes filmed documents, short scenes that are performed, sung or choreographed, and the comments of Jean Errecart himself (through the voice of Allande Boutin), is divided into three periods: the “crazy years” (1925-1945) with the Popular Front, the Spanish Civil War, the Debacle and medieval farming, which shaped his political commitment; the time of the cathedrals (1945-1965), the organisation of rural society, agricultural development and political commitment; and finally the legacy and new expectations (1965-1970) when society questions itself (May 1968).
